The Wildcats put on an absolute masterclass in defensive grit, keeping the Bears pinned in their own half for the majority of the game. Ashton was forced to work for every single inch of turf, only finding success by exploiting a few rare gaps in a relentless Accrington line.

Defensive Dominance

The Wildcats set the tone from the very first whistle. Miller and Giorgio were lightning-fast off the line, completely shutting down Ashton’s opening play and denying them any forward momentum. This aggressive defensive pressure was a constant theme throughout the match, with Logan acting as an absolute menace on the defensive line.

Theo D put in a massive shift, executing a textbook tackle before rallying support from his teammates to successfully push the opposition into touch. Meanwhile, Jack and Theo B were quietly and effectively dismantling the opposition’s attack, play after play.

• Max bounced back from a tough handling error near the try line to put on an absolute clinic in power running. He left opposition defenders on the floor with some brutal hand-offs, eating up serious meters down the pitch.
• Eli proved to be a clutch playmaker, executing a sensational, try-saving tackle before launching a powerful offensive run of his own.

Quick Thinking & Leadership

A standout Wildcats try came down to pure rugby intelligence. When the opposition spilled the ball, Miller reacted in a flash, scooping up the live ball and sprinting away to put Accrington on the board.

Special mention must go to Freya, who showed immense leadership and maturity on the pitch. Not only did she organize the defensive line to ensure the lads stayed onside, but when the team found themselves without an appointed dummy half, Freya stepped up without hesitation and made the role completely her own.
