Match Report

After a hard preseason training block, the Accrington Wildcats U11s finally took to the field for the first time this season πŸ‰

As we continue building the team for the future, we took our available players over for a game against Pilkington Recs, who kindly lent us three players to help make it a great contest.

It turned out to be a brilliant morning of rugby. There’s plenty for us to work on, but it was a really promising start to the season and great to see the boys and girls back playing again.

Logan had a blistering game with incredible line speed, putting in some huge tackles and leading the way in defence. With a few borrowed players in the squad it took a little while for the team to click, and Pilkington struck early with some strong runs down the wings.

After a quick chat during the break, the team knew exactly what they needed to work on. Back on the pitch the Wildcats began to work together and soon started producing some great tries of their own. Max led the charge with some dominant runs, at one point powering through what felt like half the opposition team.

Eli was back to his fearless best, putting in some massive hits against some of the biggest players on the pitch. The game went back and forth, with both sides battling hard, until Pilkington managed to find space out wide and scored a few unanswered tries on the wing.

Another break, another team talk, and the Wildcats were straight back at it. Frayer grew in confidence as the game went on, putting in some strong tackles and working tirelessly alongside her teammates.

The Wildcats finished the game strongly, heads held high. A brilliant final try came after some lovely passing from Logan and two of the borrowed players to cross the line. The last score of the morning was a fantastic team effort β€” Freyer made a strong run before passing to Logan, who quickly moved the ball to Eli, and then on to Max, who stormed down the middle to smash over the whitewash.

A great effort from everyone and a fantastic start to the season for the young Wildcats πŸΎπŸ‰

Opposition player Logan H.
